Alumnae Awards
Honoring Our Alumnae
Our 2025 recipients, Amanda Potters Schumacher '95 and Louisa Conrad '00, will be honored at the Reunion Luncheon on Friday, May 16.
Distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award
The Distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award is granted to a Nightingale-Bamford School alumna who has built upon her Nightingale education and achieved significant accomplishments in her professional life, or for distinguished human service to her community, state, or nation.
2025 Distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award Recipient: Louisa Conrad '00
Louisa has built a life rooted in creativity, resilience, and innovation—qualities that have defined her journey since her earliest days at Nightingale. After graduating, Louisa attended Middlebury College, where she cultivated her love of storytelling as the photo editor of the school newspaper. She went on to earn her graduate degree in fine art from CalArts in Los Angeles before returning to Vermont to teach art alongside her husband and partner, Lucas Farrell. During this time, Louisa’s artwork was exhibited in galleries across Boston, New York, Los Angeles, and Berlin.
In 2010, following the economic challenges of the 2008 recession, Louisa and Lucas embarked on an entirely new adventure—founding Big Picture Farm, a hillside goat dairy and farmstead confectionery. Their caramels and chocolates, crafted with care and a deep commitment to sustainability, have earned national acclaim and awards. Today, Big Picture Farm's products are distributed across the country, wrapped in 100% compostable or recyclable packaging—testament to Louisa’s enduring dedication to both quality and environmental stewardship.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Louisa is a proud mother to two daughters, Maisie and Minna, and serves as board chair of her daughters' school in Brattleboro, Vermont. She credits her Nightingale education with inspiring the perseverance and creativity that continue to shape her path. In honoring Louisa with this year’s Distinguished Alumnae Achievement Award, Nightingale proudly celebrates the spirit of curiosity, resilience, and imagination that defines our community at its very best.
Distinguished Alumnae Service Award
The Distinguished Alumnae Service Award is granted to a Nightingale-Bamford School alumna who has demonstrated outstanding service and devotion to the school throughout her lifetime.
2025 Distinguished Alumnae Service Award Recipient: Amanda Potters Schumacher '95
Amanda exemplifies the true spirit of service, leadership, and enduring connection—her dedication to Nightingale spans decades and roles, leaving a lasting impact on our community. Amanda’s commitment to fostering a vibrant alumnae network is especially evident through her leadership as past President of the Alumnae Board where she helped strengthen alumnae ties and advance Nightingale’s mission.
A loyal supporter with more than 20 consecutive years of giving, Amanda continues to champion philanthropic engagement across generations as both an alumnae and parent class agent. As the proud Nightingale parent of Sydney ’31 and Reese ’33, Amanda remains an active and valued leader within the Parents Association. In addition to her continued service as a Reunion Committee member and Nightingale Fund Parent Class Agent, Amanda brings her commitment and expertise to her role as Lower Middle School Divisional Rep.
Amanda received a bachelor of arts degree in Communications from The University of Pennsylvania. Over the course of her career, she has held senior leadership roles at The Huffington Post and Time Inc., before founding her own consultancy, Amanda Schumacher Communications. A trusted partner to CEOs, executives, and thought leaders, Amanda is a strategic brand leader who transforms and elevates storytelling for brands centered on women, media, and culture.
In recognizing Amanda with the Distinguished Alumnae Service Award, we celebrate not only her outstanding contributions, but also the spirit of loyalty and leadership that continues to inspire generations of Nighthawks.
